Why Google Forms doesn’t work here
As soon as you add a “File upload” question to a Google Form, every respondent has to sign in with a Google account. This cannot be switched off.
Many participants don’t have a Google account, don’t want to use it for this, or give up at the sign-in screen. Especially at events, workshops or with customers, you lose submissions this way.

When the other option is better
Google Forms is still the better choice if you need many form fields (e.g. questionnaires) and your participants all have Google accounts anyway.

Can I still ask for a name?
Yes. You can ask for the uploader’s name as optional or required. It is added in front of the file name in your Drive.
